Project Description:

Ikšķile Free school is looking for EVS volunteers. Project takes place in an alternative school “Ikšķile Free school” for 11 months – starting from September, October, November 2020 for 11 months and we will host 3 volunteers – two teacher’s assistants and assistant in permaculture garden. Ikšķile Free school is a school established and managed by parents. Values of the school are freedom, nature, community and Latvian traditions.


Teachers’ assistants in the school will express their creativity and entrepreneurship in developing activities for kids, their parents and local community. They will assist teachers in pre-school and teaching classes (sports, music, language classes) and extra curriculum activities (woodworks) for school children, assist children in developing household and self-care skills. Volunteers will also develop their own activities, for example, play traditional games, teach some songs or phrase in their language, organise events and carry out initiatives.

Assistant in the permaculture garden will assist in developing seed, organize educational activities on biological diversity and principles of permaculture, plan and develop permaculture garden in the school.
